I'm Building my MeWe Presence & Contacts

I'm Building my MeWe Presence & Contacts
I'm pretty much accepting everyone who fires a request at me for now.

The biggest difference I see with MeWe over other platforms (for better or worse) is that it currently doesn't support truely public posts; anything you post on your own timeline only goes out to the people who you are connected to. The upside is that it's much better in terms of privacy. The down-side is that it takes a bit of time before you start seeing much action. Apparently true public posting is in the works and should be arriving soon.

That said, I really like the way Groups are handled. They're like communities, except they come with a plethora of additional functionality (including, but not limited to, live chat).

Anyhoo ... please don't hesitate to fire me a request on MeWe. This won't be my last post here on Tha Ploos, but since things are winding down a little more rapidly than anyone expected ...

  2. True public posts and better sharing is coming soon, I hear :) - also I do like the way MeWe is working - but I'm a little lukewarm, that the price is so high for extra data - $5 a month for 50 GB? I pay $10 a month for 1 TB of Google Drive space. But then again - the payment is not only for storage, but to keep the whole service going, so maybe it's not that bad - as long as there's no ads...

  3. Thanks! it took some time to get action at G+ as well, at least in the old days :) Challenge is now to get the communities one like to agree on platform for the future

  4. Thomas Christensen I don't see myself ever coming close to the data caps. You'd have to be insane to use that much data on a social media site.

  5. Michael Ireland I think you have misunderstood. Mewe makes money by selling cloud storage, it is the cloud storage that costs $5 for 50gb not data caps.

  6. Me too, but if I don't recognize the name I take a glance at their profile and posts.

  7. Are you on twitter at all? I'm on pluspora and not doing the split thing.

  8. Graham Linux oh, I get ya. They also make money (arguably more profitably) selling emojis. I assume there will be other cosmetic goodies that they sell, and if they get enough subscribership, I could see cost coming down. They use Google Suite, so in a way MeWe is just a front-end for some of the same engines that run g+.

    ꧁ ʚ〖 ୭ Տᴀᴅɪǫᴜʀ Rᴀʜᴍᴀɴ ୭ 〗ɞ ꧂ it's highly similar, part of why I like it.
