I won't use FB.

I won't use FB. So this seems to be an acceptable substitute. I just hate the idea of starting over, I've had a G Minus account for years.

  1. It already passes the first test: those not logged in can see posts there. That's not the case on mewe (which i otherwise like, except for that fatal flaw).

  3. i tried minds about a year ago. it felt exactly like they wanted payment for boosting posts. Not Ever Going To Happen. I'm willing to try diaspora: happyleigheverafter@pluspora.com hope to see you

  4. Susan Martin yes, I think pluspora may be a reasonable substitute.

  5. Susan Martin if diaspora is anything like pluspora (and i assume it is) then it has the fatal flaw of not allowing you to edit posts or comments after they're submitted. That's fine for microblogging, but not for a general-purpose social presence.

  6. Stephan Beal “those not logged in can see posts there.” — that's actually a good first test.

  7. Susan Martin You can boost postings without ever paying. You can just make your posting and don't boost it and people can still read it.

The way it works: You earn token for every upvote and remind and you can then use those token to boost that one important posting.

So as along as you produce enough good content and only want to boost one in ten posting you get away without paying.

I sit 75 token (worth 75 thousand views) and don't know what to do with them.
