Besides, you'd miss content of the fair share of valuable content creators who can't afford to spend money on non-necessesities such as social networks. GPlus was great because it brought people of all walks of life together based on their interests and contributions, not by whether or not they can afford it.
There's only about 3 million active users on G+. Even paying just $1 a month likely cause most to leave.
And I don't think the number remaining will be paying enough to offset the costs of keeping G+ active and secure. Especially since a security slip could result an tens or hundreds of millions of dollars in fines.
