Top two options with the most /g+/ features:
Tumblr & Facebook.

I'm exploring Tumblr, because it has everything we use /g+/ for, excluding the hangouts features (which will still be alive in /g/). Facebook has more communications aspects, but the data flow there can make it hyper-explosive or micro-silent (cliques). Which, of course, means opening yourself up to FB. Benefits there are login centric, but we'll see.

If you write a lot, blog-like and want to maintain circles without limitations like Twitter -- Tumblr and Facebook both allow you to do that, but Facebook is a bit more granular in creation of pages, groups and whatnot. Yet Tumblr allows similar, just not as interconnected.

I'm exploring both and will report on my findings further.

  1. I don't think Tumblr is a good replacement, simply because of the way replies and additions to posts get buried in the floor of "x user liked" type notifications.

To make matters worse there's no such thing as private groups. Afaik your Tumblr is entirely private or entirely public.

  2. Alex Pedro *they ABSOLUTELY have 1rst rate Bloggers! ~ anything & everything on there ~ NO censorship....G+ is a barren desert in comparison

  3. Scott MacCallum Oh yeah, for sure, but it's not focused on interaction. It's more like an rss feed with some social features on top.

  4. Alex Pedro *have you not taken notice of The Note & Inbox features on there, Alex ~ believe me there is robust interaction

  5. Scott MacCallum I have, but like I said the notes that actually add something get buried too easily in notes that are just "x user liked".

I use Tumblr daily by the way. It's a great network and people should definitely give it a look. I just don't think it's a good alternative to G+.

  7. Scott MacCallum I doubt they will, to be perfectly honest.
