I just tried this (the free version) and it downloaded 3,000 posts with comments. But it downloaded my Collections, which I don't particularly want to keep. What I want is my Communities.
ReplyDeleteWhy does it try to download everything? Wouldn't it be better to give us a choice?
Ah! I just found the built-in help and I see that it does export Communities, so thanks for that.
ReplyDeleteThanks, but I don't need my Collections, just my Communities. I exported a Collection and imported it to Blogger with relative sucess, that is with no images, just the text and embedded URLs.
ReplyDeleteWell! This might get me to finally transition somewhere...
ReplyDelete😩😭
ReplyDeleteThanks Garry Knight Friends+Me
ReplyDeleteNo Chromebook version?
ReplyDeleteFriends+Me
ReplyDeleteWill You, Please, considering feedback from here also ?
Regards
Garry Knight is it possible to visit the imported blog? A link would help me to check what may be wrong and fix it.
ReplyDeleteDean Barnett we do not plan to release Chromebook support.
What about Linux?
ReplyDeletePeter Lemken we have binaries for Linux too.
ReplyDeleteFriends+Me The imported blog is here. I haven't made any changes at all after importing the 'backup' file.
ReplyDeleteYou'll see that each post was originally the URL of an article on tech, some with a comment from me in the body of the post. The original Collection is here:

garrystechstuff.blogspot.com - Tech Stuff
Friends+Me Ah, thanks, wasn't aware that .appimages are Linux binaries. Did chmod +x and will look at it.
ReplyDeleteGarry Knight I see what the problem is. There's no photo post in your collection just posts with attached link.
ReplyDeleteGoogle+ shows link preview, that means big picture and some title on the other hand Blogger do not support link previews. That's why there's just a link in Blogger posts and no picture.
So there's really nothing we can do about it and we do not plan to integrate link preview generator into the app at the moment.
Anyway, I am thoroughly impressed. Feels good to have my full contents stored in a readable AND usable format. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteFriends+Me I thought that was probably what was happening. Thanks. If I go that route, it will only be an archive copy, not for public consumption.
ReplyDeletePeter Lemken thank you!
