I just created a MeWe account and haven't done anything with it just yet but already have a problem with the privacy options. I don't mind allowing contacts to share posts and chats but it'd be nice if the site understood the difference between sharing text and sharing/downloading photographs. Not everyone will agree but I'd prefer to keep as tight a lock on my photos as possible.

  1. Anyone who says they will let other people see your photo but not let anyone download them is lying to you. There is no way to let people see photos without them also having the ability to save what they see.

    MeWe is just being honest.

If you don’t want people saving your photos, then only post lower resolution photos with watermarks.

  2. That's not necessarily true, Brian Holt Hawthorne. There are site that don't permit you to download the image. They can't stop you from taking a screenshot but downloading a full resolution copy of an image can be prevented.

  3. James Coleman If I can see it in full resolution on my screen, then it is already on my computer. There may be sites that make it inconvenient for me to save that file, but they can’t prevent me from doing so. If they claim they are, they are lying to you.

  4. Low res and watermark for me - and it still gets scraped. But the watermark circles back to my blog (unless it is trimmed off or whatever) Can but try.

  5. If I can see the image I can share it as I like. Ditto text.
