Let me start this by saying that I'm not a programmer.

Let me start this by saying that I'm not a programmer. I have done the Google Takeout as html and find that it just offered links to posts - not what I had actually written. To access that, I would have to log in and go to the community. Once Google + shuts down, I won't have access to those communities or those posts. What are my options? I'm sure this has been covered, and I apologize of I've overlooked it, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

  1. That sounds badly broken. Please file Feedback.

  2. Mikaela Kieschnick Yes. So:

    1. File feedback on your export failure.
    2. Re-request your archive. I'd suggest following either Google's official instructions or mine.
    3. See if that works, if not, repeat from 1.

  4. If you are talking specifically about the Google+ Communities Takeout data, unfortunately that is a known gripe with the current takeouts.
The Google+ Communities Takeout only contains metadata such as community description, access control list visibility, and links to the posts in the community. I agree that that is useless, and doesn't make for a portable Community export you can archive or import elsewhere.
At the moment there's nothing we can do about that specific case apart from reporting it to Google via the Send Feedback option, and publicly voicing your disappointment.

While it might seem pointless at the moment to report it via Feedback, we are actually seeing issues reported through it, getting fixed.

Please try to formulate your issues in the form of Expected Behaviour and Actual Behaviour, and include a concise but detailed description of your issue. Make it clear the issue is with the Google+ Communities Takeout archive.

If your issue is rather with the Google+ Stream part of your Takeout archive only having links rather than content, then that is indeed unexpected and should definitely be reported as a bug.
