One week into MeWe and all I can say is it has its pros and cons. The pros seem to outweigh the cons so far, so that is good. But the cons are nasty. Literally, nasty people and racists that seem to have congregated there because they were banned from Facebook. So beware. I have already used the block feature a lot. I do like MeWe's ability to blend groups and chat, which does not exist here. Also the app is fast and performant on Android.

  1. Thats exactly what I found, we need our own section on mewe

  2. I don't yet know what I'm going to do or if I'm going to do anything at all but MeWe has never been high on my list of alternatives for just reasons mentioned.

  3. James Coleman Even though I asserted the PROS outweigh the cons?

  4. Same here.
Could not post publicly on G+, because was attacked by trolls very early, and later by bots.
    Could not happen in MeWe.
Except maybe in groups, depending on how they are managed.

So, as long as you find friends, and know reliable people, you'll be OK.
Have been on Minds and MeWe for about a year, rarely present, most contacts were nazi, libertarian, conspiratards, etc.
    Now, I retrieved many plussers!

  5. You know, all groups and posts there are private. There is no public content. So unless you join nasty communities or pick uncouth friends, you literally wouldn't even know that content existed.

What you are describing is a bit like purposefully entering a strip club and then complaining about how many half naked women there are.

  6. John C. Reid I did not know prior to joining MeWe that it had many fb rejects. Some people are banned from FB or elsewhere for good reason. I joined a few MeWe music groups and found vindictive, crazy, and petty people (and sometimes all three of the aforementioned). How can you predict if someone is nuts ahead of time? There are also nice people it seems. It has only been one week. Time will tell.

  7. ANY social network will have undesirable members.

You don't need to connect with everybody. If you're in groups where they're members, you can block them.

I can honestly say I have not yet personally encountered any of the type of people you describe Tom29

  8. Now that I have my plusser friends, it's different.
One year ago, tried to connect with people there, a lot of Woo, anti-science, Infowars, and weird theories, + far Right.

As with Minds and GAP, a lot of people were banned from FB and Twitter.

  9. I'm 11 and I lied about my age to enter MeWe (but I know it's not cool in a civilized society)
I didn't see innapropriate content for now.

  10. Edward Morbius That may be so. I'm just saying that it's perfectly possible to stay away from it.

  11. What success has everyone had importing their G+ profile/posts into MeWe? What data format does it support? Does the G+ Export tool help?

  12. Julie Wills "Stay[ing] away from it" still means that you're supporting the network that (inexplicably) is deciding to continue to host it.

And wait, there are "pros" to a social network that actively encourages hate groups to migrate there...? Seriously?
