weco.io just appeared on my radar. They charge montly and user base is small -- how can any social network charge and remain inclusive? or even grow? How can any social network NOT charge and preserve user sanctity? If anyone has familiarity with weco, please comment? Thanks

ReplyDeleteWell, Dreamwidth offers both free and paid subscriptions, with the latter (for a small ($3/month) fee) offering certain benefits that are not included with a free subscription (there is also a premium paid option with even greater benefits). I was happy with the advantages of the service, and voluntarily opted for the paid subscription.
Feedly offers free and paid. Seems to be a common solution.
ReplyDeleteThis looks very promising for a social news feed. But i didn't see it costs anything.

ReplyDeleteWeCo is totally free to use and doesn't charge monthly. Apologies on WeCos behalf for giving a different impression, how did you get the impression that there's a monthly charge :) ?
ReplyDeleteLeo Sammallahti I sure thought I read something about monthly fee in the FAQ but I can't find it anymore . . . so anyone who I misled, my apologies. Looks like it is ad-supported. Fine!
ReplyDeleteCade Johnson There are no ads either :). You must have misunderstood something, we at WeCo are planning to rewrite lot of the FAQ and info, hope it will clear the misunderstandings :).
ReplyDeleteThe WeCo FAQ discusses that WeCo plans to have "slightly more ads than Reddit, but only on the right sidebar"
