Is it a result of G+ shutting down ? Do you guys have similar issues ?
I can download it from the post and it plays fine, but only the thumbnail/preview is shown on G+

Perhaps; Have to start thinking now about other social platforms to migrate to.

G+MM are oriented at getting people off of Google+, not in resolving problems with the site itself, other than those directly affecting migration. Generally that's data export and migration.
