We've been making several changes to the Google+ Data Importer on LifeCloud based on the data transfers that users have been doing. Appreciate your feedback in helping us make it better.

We fixed a lot of the formatting issues and will continue to work with you guys on getting all your communities properly "rehydrated".

Here are some imported communities/collections:

If you're having any issues importing your files(s) please let us know and we can work with you directly to rectify. Also make sure you're following the instructions on step 1 in generating your Google Takeout files exactly or the import may not work.

You can find the importer here:

  1. Thx Javan Joel for sharing my "test" community as an example... as you can check by yourself, there are still many issues ;-)
    * videos become links to YouTube (no embedding)... how do you retain users in this case? YouTube will keep them through their recommendation engine...
    * many image previews for videos are broken (although the video link's good)...

  2. Didier J. MARY We do have the ability to embed Youtube directly in the post, just that in the import process we had to account for the fact that the video URL may come from several disparate locations outside of YouTube.

Moving forward any Youtube videos you embed into your messages would play directly inside the post .

Having said all that, and as you can see, we're "cleaning up" all the data from the importer which includes us even gradually fixing those youtube links so they can be embedded youtube instead of just links. Once we do any future import jobs will automatically do this immediately.
