Do brand accounts count as business accounts?

Do brand accounts count as business accounts? Because Google+ isn't shutting down altogether, only the business portion will be kept up.

  1. Splatoon is the worst game of all time. There's no answer yet, as far as I understand. What will be the future of brand accounts/pages? So far, I'm feeling they'll disappear altogether just as profiles will.

  2. Splatoon is the worst game of all time. Best I understand is that you'd specifically need to have a G Suite account to use the G Suite G+ service. And that's going to be limited to users on that specific G Suite domain.

If that's what you want, you may have an option. It's not how most of us think of G+ though.

And Google really have not communicated this clearly at all.

  3. G+ will only be available for GSuite users (which is not the same thing as "people using G+ for business").

It is possible but not yet confirmed that G+ Brand pages owned by GSuite users will survive the sunset.

However, as there won't be any consumer users to see their posts, it is expected that even if they do survive, they will only be able to communicate with other users within the same GSuite domain (although the same domain restriction is also yet to be confirmed).

Since most people won't be able to use G+ anyway, the usefulness of a G+ Brand Page would be severely restricted.

However, other products (e.g. YouTube) also allow the use of Brand accounts, and part of the divorce proceedings a while ago dealt with that. I'm no YouTube expert, so if your question relates to Brand accounts in other products, rather than G+ brand pages, I'd advise you to ask in the relevant product forums.

  4. Julie Wills Thanks for your reply. For others, Julie is (I believe) a Google+ TC/PE (top contributor/product expert), and as knowledgeable as anyone as to what's happening here.

That knowledge has limits as Google have been economical with information to the TC/PEs as with the rest of us, and they're frustrated too. But this is good info.

Julie, in related matters, could you provide any insights or assistance with this, thanks:

  7. Julie Wills Myself, and yes, that post is involved, though it's all activity on Google+ Help.

There is no "Join" or "Member" button visible on the Google+ Help communities page when I visit it. I cannot comment on or edit my posts, or edit my comments there.

Rupert Wood has just commented that my profile does not appear on the banned list:

+The Real Slim Shady he’s not on the banned list, but also does not appear to be a member either. I can’t respond to his other post as I’m not a member of the community he posted it to.

Weird that he’s been removed again, but if a rogue mod was doing this, they could just as easily ban him, which they aren’t doing.

Curious that he also chose to address me in a post about this, in a community I’m not a member of, so I can’t respond directly.

plus.google.com - I'm being repeatedly removed from the Google+ Help community And seeing post...

I've also got concerns that other users content is being removed, as I saw a slew of posts about the G+ sunset itself which no longer appear visible. That's my bigger concern, as it would indicate that the community is being actively censored of legitimate help requests. I can assure you I've no relationship with those posters.

I don't have archives showing that, though those are now being kept.

Please note that I'm aware G+H mods themselves only have limited powers on that community, and there are several earlier indications of either higher-level capabilities or systems-level manipulation of content and membership within the community. That's not a good sign.

I actually don't expect this to get resolved, but I'd appreciate your asking / escalating the question to see what's going on. And if it turns out Google are gaslighting its users, you might want to reconsider your associations and volunteer labour for the firm.

    Thanks.

  8. Julie Wills any indication on what will happen to the YouTube channels that are connected to Brand accounts? Will there be some information on how to make them "independant" before the Brand accounts are killed?

  9. Didier J. MARY As I said above, I'm pretty clueless about YouTube, but also as I mentioned above, "Brand Account" is different from G+ Brand Page.

As G+ and YouTube got divorced a while ago, this is not exclusively a G+ sunsetting issue, so the folks in the YouTube forum at https://support.google.com/youtube/community?hl=en will be able to help you.

  10. thx Julie Wills will check... as far as I understand, the divorce was for comments mainly. But artists' YT channels are still interconnected with the page (not sure of the distinction you do here - all the pages I created for artists in the past are now visible as "brand acsounts") they were created from or connected to a few years ago.
