Google+ Aspire Community going read-only

Google+ Aspire Community going read-only
I guess since this was a meta-community about Google+ Collections, rather than an independent topic-specifiic one, it didn't make sense for them to move to another platform.
Though it might've been a missed opportunity for dedicated members to provide a community for cross-platform tips on maintaining collections and improving your audience.

Closing Aspire

Aspire has been a wonderful community to so many of us, but it is now time for Aspire's journey to come to an end. Aspire was developed to expand the Google+ Collections Community, which was dedicated to helping users create high quality collections. We have seen so many important discussions take place in our community, and we have been fortunate to accompany your work and progress over time. You made this community a special place, so thank you all for contributing so much over the years.

Aspire will be made inactive today. No new members will be accepted into our community and no new posts will be shared. All existing members will be marked as limited, which will allow you to access previous posts and conduct your data takeouts. While the community will remain visible to members, all new posts will be held for review and will not be published.

As you move forward with your transition off of G+, we encourage you to check out the resources available on Google+ Help Community: https://plus.google.com/communities/115758385206378551362

Thank you for all of your contributions to Aspire. Aspire would not have been the same without you.

  1. Excuse offered elsewhere is that the moderation overhead was too high.

Nice to know where you fall on the priority scale.

  2. The Aspire community was established to promote content creation via Collections on Google+. It makes no sense to promote Google+ content creation anymore, so disabling new posts makes complete sense.

  3. John Skeats It makes no sense to kill off a direct channel to 83,000 leading and engaged G+ users in light of the ongoing shutdown.

What's the Cool Aid taste like?

  4. John Skeats Oh, and Google shut down the Google+ Moderators community six weeks ago and never bothered to tell anyone.
