  1. Why do I have a feeling that the author hasn't done enough research? Pluspora is just another Diaspora pod.

  2. Halfey Halphstein MeWe is missing too

  3. As crappy as MeWe is , these other ones are not that great either and yes, Diaspora is the bigger network and pluspora is a pod of Diaspora both of which are very blah, not very customizable as far as appearances , no editing posts or comments, can't like comments, no translator tool built in , mostly political snobs, no communities, no real "block" function ; not one that works anyway. It makes MeWe look better than the rest. Mastodon is good if your under 25, just discovered your sexuality and enjoy anime sex images. 🙄

  4. It's going to be hard to find something like G+, I've been using MeWe for a while and it just doesn't have that something that G+ does.

  5. Mia Dees if that's your opinion of Mastodon, you've clearly not tried out some of the topic-oriented Mastodon instances, such as mastodon.social.
There are also instances which prohibit any kind of nudity, pornography, advertising, spam and spoilers: https://instances.social/list/advanced#lang=&allowed=&prohibited=nudity_nocw,nudity_all,pornography_nocw,pornography_all,illegalContentLinks,spam,advertising,spoilers_nocw&users=

I'm still on mastodon.social, though I am considering hosting a #Pleroma instance myself so I can have an increased length limit, but hentai or similar rarely finds itself in my feed. Sure, the federated stream might be full of nsfw content, but I get most of my content from people I follow, as well as specific hashtag streams I have open.
Even the federated stream can be cleaned up manually by blocking the worst domains, or picking an instance that doesn't federate with nsfw instances. In that way it imho offers far more control and moderation than for instance Twitter.

  6. Filip H.F. Slagter its actually my disappointment because I like Mastodons layout and functions. I just got off mastodon.social and it's the same thing every day, I just don't fit into the "culture" even as an artist. It's my personal experience as well being on mastodon social for 3 months as well as quey . Org
Im an open-minded artist and I've read the "generalized" crowd descriptions which is how I selected my 2 instances. After 3 months of engaging, participation and observing, the embodiment is a 20 something gaming/ anime crowd that has left me feeling the other instances are going to have much of the same. 😬☹️nothing wrong with that; just not a compatible environment for my 30 year old - 60 year old set of friends and followers. Just my experience.

  7. Filip H.F. Slagter There's plenty of drama there too. I left because of that. Also, be sure to take advantage of the watermark features there too. There are sites out there that comb through dA and other art forums to take the art and make $$$ without compensating the artist.

  8. My decision: Friendica offers everything that G+ offers (incl. Collections) - and even more.

  9. Kee Lo I've chosen Youme.social to replace my G+ experience.

It's a startup, but is the most "G+" looking and functioning I've come across.

In all, there's any number of options, it's testing some and finding what works for you.

Here's a link for more info re: YouMe.social

  10. I never got around to getting into Mastodon. Everyone says they're great. It took me 8 years to finally get into Ghost. Better late than never, I guess.

  11. I disagree w most of its suggestions 😂

  12. I disagree with the suggestions too - I like the background on Tumblr though.

  13. Mia Dees Some weeks ago I suggested to you that there's a Mastodon instance especially for art and artist, mastodon.art. It's great if you're an artist and it is nothing like the description you are giving of Mastodon. Funny that you don't recall that.
Could it be that you're just promoting MeWe here?

  14. Eric Buijs to be fair, mastodon.art does also have its fair share of furry and ecchi art, as well as art created by / aimed at younger audiences, which might be not quite the kind of works Mia is looking for.

  15. Filip H.F. Slagter Perhaps, but on mastodon.art I haven't seen any of the 'anime sex images' she mentions. It's pretty much all artwork.
