Me too! 😊 💚
ReplyDeleteNegative advertising towards another social site...in this case fb, (deserved or not) is never a good marketing strategy. I, personally, find it distasteful and indicative of the type of site you are promoting.
ReplyDeleteAdvertise what's good on MeWe, not what's bad on other sites.
Say no thanks to I do not understand the enthusiasm with which many use...

al m completely agree with you. They apprently only have one person marketing and they do seem to have their wires crossed... even on their own site they appear to promote the product instead of announcing any up-and-coming or recent improvements which is very frustrating that said it's not going to put me off using the platform.
ReplyDeleteI really dislike that part of mewe, seeing their posts moaning about Facebook, it's not the right attitude to attract people.
Heidi Anne Morris It's been their go to strategy from day one. RE NY times article.
ReplyDeleteal m I know
ReplyDeleteNot a fan. Their "free speech" policies attract too many neoNazis, Proud Boys and other people with whom I do not want to be even remotely associated with.
ReplyDeletePat Kight ditto.
ReplyDeleteYMMV. I think many enjoy the one-stop, chat/emoji interface, voice chat, and groups. Issues for some include the "walled garden" - like AOL was, it's "closed circuit" - so no point trying to reach a wide public; and things are not always permanent, for better & worse. I've not seen (many) Nazi/hate posts, because they don't make it to my paltry feed (mostly notices about photography groups, invitations for "fun" animal and giffy-meme groups, and invitations to connect with strangers who I've no idea why/how they'd be writing. (Some obvious robots or come ons.) BUT... by limiting my contacts to actual friends and people I've seen things from which I like, and groups I enjoy (in the G+ model, and some from G+), it seems OK for some things, not a be all end all. I do agree it's superior in some ways (privacy, "freedom") to FB, and I get why some think they spend too much effort bashing FB and not enough time emphasizing their strengths. But hey, they are a wave now, like diaspora* et al, and it's a choice for those who don't want the same thing from Facebook-land. Choice is good.
