Where to go after Google+

Where to go after Google+

After trying out #Minds and #MeWe for about a week I'm definitely enjoying #Minds more. I can already read my feed there to receive the most important news about what's going on in #science and #technology. It's still not as complete as here, but there's lots of good stuff, with the plus side that there's less junk posts as well. I guess people just have to know who to follow ;) MeWe is more like Facebook, you need to follow each other to see the posts, there's still no public posting, not even inside the platform (although they say it's coming). I've already received spam "friendship" request at MeWe and I also don't enjoy that they officially use faul words in their description and emails. At least at the moment Minds is much better and more interesting in my opinion. I'm trying to be active there daily, so check me out:

I'm finding it a great alternative to #Google+.

  1. and then I found out minds.com does have an official Android app, but it's download from their website, not Play Store.

I actually don't remember the last time I enabled "install from unknown sources".

  2. eric peacock I didn't know that.. odd indeed, but maybe they're just trying to stay out of the Google environment, trying to protect data.. Anyway, I've been accessing via Chrome on my mobile and it works flawlessly :) you can even save the shortcut to your home on android. So until now I'm not feeling the need of the app.

  3. eric peacock yeah, I agree, not sure about that. The site layout is OK though

  4. Jessica Meyer I feel like you're correct about their reasoning for no play store

  5. All the blockchain stuff seems like a red flag.

  6. Emlyn O'Regan will you elaborate on that statement please?

  7. Emlyn O'Regan you mean the tokens? It actually incentives you to share more meaningfully posts and to interact more. I wasn't sure before as well, but it's been a positive experience so far. See it as a game, you get rewarded if you are active and post interesting stuff. Boosted posts only appear on the top of the feed (1 post that can scroll horizontally), or on the side column, but they're not intrusive imo, you can simply ignore them if not interested. Receiving tokens lets you boost your profile or some specific post, I think it's a nice way to reach new audience. No negative experience about it till now.

  8. MINDS has been my Primary Social Media home for a long time now.

  9. A Thoughtful Observer from DownUnder Oh I recognize you from there! First time I meet someone on Minds and then on G+ ;) Guess it's a good sign!

  10. Minds Android app were used to be on Play Store, in fact the one I have installed in my phone was obtained from Play Store last year.

  11. Sciences on Minds?
Interesting, had given up, facing mostly paranormal, alt-theories, alt-realities and conspiracies of all sorts.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Christian Nalletamby maybe with the G+ exodus it's getting better there ;)

  13. Jessica Meyer That's what happening on MeWe, so, quite possible.

  14. Tom29 yes, sorry for the misspelling.. They use "BS" all the time, no need for that.. I think that's them trying to be "cool", but it's not very professional.

  15. eric peacock Minds took the app of the store recently. And indeed they want to be independent of Google.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Emlyn O'Regan The use of Blockchain on Minds is optional and need to be activated separately.

And, what's wrong with blockchain anyway?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Christian Nalletamby I found a lot of useful science on Minds. You must have joined the wrong groups or people.

Follow is important on Minds. If you don't follow enough people Minds will fill your newsfeed with random postings so it won't look all to empty.

I think that's a mistake. Especially on a free speech platform where a lot of people post strange opinions. Empty newsfeed might be better.

  18. For me minds became total crappy stream like facebook :)

  19. Martin Krischik A lot of smaller social network wannabes seem pretty scammy, and whenever you add blockchain, you get the whole "get paid to post!" nexus which tends to feel like you've just walked into a network marketing scam. Nothing wrong with the technology per se, but I'm not looking for a "stream of passive income", I just want a functioning platform.

  20. Hello Jessica Meyer
Google+ profile user can be enhanced with special audience by G+ collections, and also can be one of the Google create program member and benefits up to 6 advantages.

Will minds.com serve you better for this option? Would it be G+ alternative choice?

    ReplyDelete
  21. MOHAMAD GHOUL Circles and Collections are more or less unique to Google+. Most other social networks use groups instead.

And it's not a question of better since Google+ is closing down in three month.

  22. Hello Martin Krischik
Thank for your comment, it is not easy to leave what profile spent on Google+ of time and efforts to create collections and get their special followers.

That's why I asked for ease the choice of moving to the recommended social media platform.

  23. Jessica Meyer I sent an invite to connect in MeWe. I love how Minds have public profiles though but I already made my decision.

  24. Jessica Meyer And personally I'm looking for a passive income... Maybe should try minds too.

  25. Kerem Go If you are looking for passive income you might be better off with SteemIt

    steemit.com - Steemit

Minds token aren't traded on exchanges yes and it's not that easy to sell them for fiat currency.

Steem however is traded at exchanges for currently €0.2254.

But I should point out that it's not that easy to make money on SteemIt. It's not even easy to open an account.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Martin Krischik Thank you so much for your input dear Martin! My experience with SteemIt wasn't good... I was getting comments like "good stuff" but same people who commenting were avoiding to "up" my post no matter how good it is. It's a strange place which seems to me people trying to pull others down to rise up... Something completely opposite to my way of thinking.

If Minds is not better than SteemIt in that regard, I think it will be another waste of time.

Same goes for me on Patreon too... Hot chicks with semi naked photos or hentai painters doing better there since competition getting tighter. I'm a dude shooting landscapes and that combo is a great formula to be unpopular I guess :-D

  27. Kerem Go “good stuff” — you need to ignore those. That's just SPAM. You see them less often now.

I also noted worthless 1% upvotes. They too are just SPAM.

If you do photography steepshot might be helpful. It's on the same blockchain as steemit but specialises in photos.

    alpha.steepshot.io - steepshot.io

Of course no matter what you do you can't beat naked women.

  28. Martin Krischik Oh that site seems really cool - thank you!
